Hi, my name is Robyn and here are some things I identify with (haha): teacher, youth coach, mother, thinker, and lifelong seeker. This blog is a space where I will share my thoughts and insights to spark your thoughts on education, parenting, personal development & more. I am thrilled to embark on this journey with you.
Why ‘Kuminda pa Pensamentu’?
The name of this blog, ‘Kuminda pa Pensamentu’, translates to ‘Food for Thought’ in Papiamentu, the mother tongue of the beautiful island of Curaçao, where I was born, raised, and still call home. Just as food nourishes our bodies, the thoughts and ideas of others can inspire, provoke, and challenge us to think for ourselves. Through this blog, I hope to offer ideas and perspectives that inspire introspection, growth and thoughtful discussion.

Why Blogging?
I’ve asked myself the same question. Surely a more modern approach would be podcasting, vlogging or creating daily one-minute reels for TikTok and Instagram. Who is still reading in 2024 anyway, right!?🤷🏻♀️
Well... Besides having less-than-average talent for video editing and my aversion to being in front of a camera, these mediums don’t give me the same satisfaction as the agony of painstakingly putting into words what is going on in my chaotic head in such a semi-structured way that it becomes comprehensible to someone else. For someone who has struggled with expressing her authentic voice (or what the spiritual community likes to call a blocked ‘throat chakra’), this is therapeutic for me.
There. That is my selfish reason. But don’t worry — I am also thinking of you😉...
When you’re watching videos or reels, you are getting a lot of information. You are not only listening to someone express themselves but also watching their embodiment of what they are saying, what they are not saying, and even taking some of it (unconsciously) upon yourself. Who hasn't gotten emotional during a good movie or series? We are biologically hardwired to do this. Some of us are better at this than others, but we are all social creatures interdependent on others, so what happens to others and what they are communicating is important to us, whether we are doom-scrolling or not.
Most of the time, vlogging and social media video posts are happening at a high pace, with lots of music and other distractions, which leaves you with little time to process. And little time to discern what thoughts and emotions are really yours and which ones aren't. I believe writing not only gives the writer time and space to think for themselves, but also the reader.
What You Can Expect
On this blog, you can expect a mix of personal stories, thoughts, insights, and practical tips on topics such as:
Innovative approaches to learning & teaching
Parenting strategies
Personal growth and development
And yes, some elements of spirituality, psychology and philosophy (the name ‘Transcend’ might have hinted at that, didn’t it? 😋)
Join the Conversation!
This blog isn’t meant to be a one-way communication channel. Consider this a personal invitation to join the conversation. I want this space to blossom into a safe community space where we can all dare to be authentic, vulnerable, and speak our truths—respectfully, of course.
So, share your thoughts in the comments, suggest topics you’d like to see covered, and connect with me on this journey. Together, we can explore, learn, grow, and Transcend 😉.
Warm regards,
Robyn
